Walking the Sierra Nevada & Granada

The Sierra Nevada and the Granada region are well known to the local Spanish. The Cumbres Verde where access is easy and the unspoilt area offers some quiet walking. Green valleys contrast with the arid badlands that fight for possession of the land which as you can imagine, gives for some great views. We offer a range of walks in this area.

Other interesting spots include the historical "Vereda de Estrella" path offering breathtaking views over the north faces of the Sierra Nevada giants Alcazaba (3350m) and Mulhacen (3482m). Best months are May, June, September, October and November. Escape the heat between June and Oct and walk to the higher mountain lakes around the Rio Lanjaron valley.

Set in Granada province, the Sierra de Huetor mountains are relatively unknown. The hills and forests here offer the keen explorer a great insight into the days when there were few paths into the mountainous areas.

Finally we have the Lecrin valley which is clustered by beautiful villages south of Granada. It borders West to the mighty Sierra Nevada and to the south you have the Sierra de Almijara. The area offers great variety of walking and hiking, known only to a small band of local enthusiasts. Our series of day walks by hand picked local guides aim to cover the best linear and circular routes this valley has to offer.
